Marco Lazzarino got the degree in Physisc from the University of Genoa in 1991. From 1992 to 1995 he reecived a fellowship in bioelectronics from Eniricerche. From 1995 to 1998 he was post-doc at INFM-TASC laboratory, Trieste. In 1998 he was research associate at Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. He worked on the electronic properties of semiconductor devices, including heterostructures, Schottky barriers, hybrid superconductor-semiconductor and 2D electron gas.

Since 1999 he is a confirmed researcher at CNR-INFM laboratorio TASC, Trieste where he operates in the scanning probe microscopy field, with a particular interest in AFM lithography and  low temperature SNOM.

He is also scientific coordinator of the Nano-Bio-Analysis division of the Center for BioMedicine (CBM S.c. r.l. -
Trieste) dedicated to the application of scanning probe microscopy to biology. The main activities are imaging in-vivo of stem cells and neurons, morphological and mechanical properties of amyloid fibers and tip-enhanced raman scattering.
